We Are Here, Walking Towards the Unknown

Ryan Young
Students write personal and fictional narratives inspired by Frankenstein. Prompts include: misunderstood monsters, fears and horrors, a science experiment gone wrong, and rewriting the story.

Expand, Expand, Cut, Cut, Expand, Expand

Students add and embellish rough drafts into second drafts adding details and using passages from Frankenstein as inspiration.
What Your Students Will Learn

In this session, students learn about the elements of prose and narrative that make stories dynamic and apply them to their own drafts.

What You Will Need

Before You Start

Before you begin this session, make sure that you have copies of all the materials needed for each student. Again, an optional step of preparation would be to provide feedback on your students’ drafts—but if it will happen during class, it’s not necessary to do beforehand.
