What You Will Need

Before You Start

These sessions were originally designed and taught by 826michigan in partnership with the Belle Isle Conservatory in Detroit, Michigan. In this adapted project, students will create imanginative stories rooted in facts they learn about pollination. We’ve provided facts about common pollinators, but we encourage you to tailor this project to pollinators that are native to your area. If you’d like to dig deeper, you could work to integrate with local resources often found at local botanical or community gardens. A field trip or an in-class visit by a master gardener could help students understand how to spot pollinators in their own community.

In this session, students will work in small groups to create characters based on pollinators. For STEP 2, decide whether you will assign pollinators to groups, or allow groups to choose their pollinator.
