Students will use a graphic organizer to develop ideas on their topic and select interesting words, details, and phrases to write an ode, or praise poem.
Over the course of this lesson, students learn to define an ode as a “poem of praise” and critically analyze a mentor text. Most importantly, students have the opportunity to move through several stages of the writing process: brainstorming, drafting, and revising.
