Tell Me About Yourself: Interview Practice

In this Spark, students will learn more about conducting interviews and practice by interviewing a classmate.
What Your Students Will Learn

Your students will learn how to interview a classmate.

What Your Students Will Produce

Your students will write a paragraph that introduces their partner to the rest of the class.

What You Will Do

Students will spend time getting to know each other by interviewing a classmate. As a class, generate a list of questions the students can use in their interviews, writing the questions on a white board for the students to reference. Examples include:

  • What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?
  • What do you do outside of school that you enjoy/are passionate about?
  • What is your favorite show to rewatch and why?
  • How would your best friend describe you?
  • What is the funniest thing that’s ever happened to you?

Emphasize that the list of questions is only a starting point—if something comes up in conversation, students should feel free to diverge and ask more open-ended questions that are relevant to the conversation!
