What You Will Do

STEP 1

First, watch the video; then, find the Media Brainstorming chart, on page 1 of the Side Character Stories — Handout. Brainstorm a collection of your favorite imaginary narratives (books, movies, TV shows, etc.) that feature a cast of characters. Write down at least 3 different titles—you could list 2 book titles and 1 manga title; 1 movie, 1 TV show, and 1 book title, etc. Also list the protagonist of the story, and the name of 1 of the side characters. 

STEP 2

Next, choose 1 of the side characters that you brainstormed on page 1 of the handout. You will begin filling out the relevant details about your character. Use your imagination to answer the prompts on page 2.

STEP 3

Finally, write a narrative that describes your character’s backstory on page 3 of the handout. Don’t forget to incorporate the relevant...
