Little Things

by 826 National, featuring Adri. S. Cordoba, Grade 10, Woodburn High School
From the 826 National original publication, UNBOUND, this poem celebrates the writer's connection to the natural world and asks you to write about the little things you appreciate.
About the Author

Adri. S. Cordoba is a girl, in wonder of philosophy, who enjoys writing in every shape and form, especially poetry. She loves reading, sharks, and cake, and she hopes to help others struggling with their identity like she has. Through her heroic philosophy journey, she learned that identity can go from little things such as liking bugs to big things like being a poet. She hopes that people read her work and accept everything about themselves like she accepted everything about herself, all good and bad.

Writing Prompt: Watch the video and follow along with the mentor text below. Then, write about a “little thing” in your life that you appreciate in big ways. Or, pay attention to the little things that you appreciate throughout your day. Finally, reflect: How did paying attention to things that seem small change your perspective, your day, or your mood?

A caterpillar taught me too: changed to show me I could

change too.

A worm said to me long ago: everything has a purpose,

even I.

Bees fuel my joy, and gardeners’ too:...
