Dear Congress

Dear Congress,

Since the beginning of this country, young people, like me, haven’t had much representation and voice to display how we truly feel about real-world problems. This agenda and culture tries to push about how older people are the only ones that make decisions for us, and is limiting our views and opinions on important issues everyone should care about. On average 13% of America is made up of adolescents. A big misconception people believe is that kids are practically everywhere in America, but the reality of the situation is that adolescents make up less than half of America, meaning our voices are one of the smallest in the country. I feel as though this is a huge problem for the overall state of America because the youth is the future of every aspect in life, and to limit their access and restrain their reach, you’re theoretically putting them in a box where they can’t let their imagination run wild and free.

Now to be fair, we do need adults and older people in Congress and the government that have roles that nurture and supervise the young adults imagination, and give the youth the chance to hone their determination and use their years of experience and knowledge to translate that in a way that’s not forced and manipulative. But in this modern day and age, the elders of Congress and government don’t let the flower of youth bloom into these areas of life and spark new innovative ideas that are desperately needed in these particular areas.

So in these trying times of society, instead of building negative connotations and agendas, we as a country should build positive relationships and narrative between the  government and adolescents and create a community that builds voice and fuels creativity in America, so people like me can feel as though we are heard, and have impact on the country’s important decisions.

From,

Tyler
