I am a dark-skinned Black woman
born to embrace the light from the sun,
but compelled to hide in the dark.
I was made as the blueprint,
the muse,
the one who inspires,
but I can’t stand being seen.
They want us to hate who we are,
but want everything we own.
I am a queer, Black, bold, and vibrant being.
