What You Will Do

Working Superheroes
Students will talk with their peers about professions they already know and discuss how superhero traits could be applied to everyday jobs.
Introduction :

In this lesson, students learn how to correlate a very real life pursuit with a creative and metaphorical exploration. By becoming familiar with different professions and the importance of professional contributions to society, students get to imagine their own post-education futures through a written and illustrated narrative.

Session 1: Working Superheroes

In this lesson, students will talk with their peers about professions they already know, ones they like, and discuss the diverse range of professions. After this, students will discuss superhero traits and how these traits can be applied to everyday jobs.

You Will Need
  • Copies of the “Doing a Super Job” handout
  • Copies of the “Superhero Trait Brainstorm” handout
  • Copies of the “Your Superpowered Future” handout
  • An easel board, chalk board, white board or other large writing space to record students’ in-class comments
  • A computer or other method of sharing online videos
  • Blank comic strips (many options are available online, such as the website Printable Paper’s featured comics pages)
